Smile - Boys Rule Sketch

Morning Scrappy Friends!! Today I'm up on the Boys Rule blog with a new layout and a sketch I designed. I love working with the girls there. They challenge me to step out of my comfort zone and now I can design a sketch and make a cut file! Yipeeee, lol. So, back to the layout, lol. I couldn't help but scrap this selfie of Ryan and Jax. Those two are just the best of buddies. The May/ June kit has so many fun chipboard shapes, stickers, wooden embellies... it's crazy how much stuff is in that kit! I always have leftovers. I hope you can stop by and play along with us. You don't need to have the kit to play along! But... you just may win one!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I love reading your comments and I appreciate your scrappy support! Have a wonderfully happy scrappy day! Lynn

What a Wonderful Day

Morning! Can you believe it's February already? Come on Spring..I'm ready!! Since it's Monday, that means a new sketch reveal is up at Let's Get Sketchy. This is a photo of the hubs and I taking a selfie at the dog park. I know..your thinking I have such an exciting life right? The dog park is the highlight of the week around here, lol. I picked up some new goodies at the scrap store awhile back and thought I should maybe use them up before all the new CHA goodies arrive, lol. This one I kept quite simple, but still had a lot of fun playing with the sketch! Hope you can stop by and play along with us!!

Teddy

Morning Scrap Friends! Today is another sketch reveal at Sketchabilities. Karan's sketches are so much fun to work with, and I had a blast with this one. I had this collection from MME and I thought it had just the rights elements for this layout. I loved the huge gray doilies! I even played with some sprays and inks on this one. Now the story behind the layout: This is our Ashley. One day while shopping at Costco, she spied this HUGE teddy bear. Well, I couldn't resist buying it for her. She is just this little thing, and teddy was so huge next to her. I'm sure her mom was thrilled when she brought him home, lol.  I hope you can pop by and play along with us!

Dream - Let's Get Sketchy

Monday, Monday....and we all know that means another sketch reveal at Let's Get Sketchy! I loved the circle idea of the sketch and when I saw all the doilies on the MME paper, I thought...hey why not cut them out and make a circle out of circles. It's funny when you start a layout and have one idea, then it turns into something completely different. First I had three buttons, then I had three little flowers, then I decided to punch out three flowers...see what I mean, I just get going some times, lol. I also started this layout with a colored photo of the kids but something wasn't clicking. The colors were too soft, so off to my "photo basket" as I call it, and there they were...two little black and whites of Nicole! I'm sure we all get off track and try more than a few things in one spot..but if in the end we are happy, that's all that counts right?

Graduation Journey - Let's Get Sketchy

The amazing sketch by Bev Code from Let's Get Sketchy was just perfect for a layout of Nicole graduating from University. I'm having a proud momma moment here so bare with me, lol. In the fall of 2007 Nicole was in a terrible car accident. She was hit by a City Street cleaner truck. Her car was squished and she was lucky to survive the accident. She suffered alot of spine, neck and head injuries along with back and knee injuries as well. It was a long recovery for my poor girl. Her dream was to be a ballroom dancer and she was well on her way at the time winning competitions and doing showcase dances. After the accident she couldn't dance anymore. She started to concentrate on finishing university. It took her almost 6 years to finish a 4 year degree. She threw her heart and soul into studying. She graduated in the summer of 2011 with Distinction, making the Dean's list and her marks were a 4.0! I'm so proud of this young lady. I wish everyone could spend an hour talking to her. I'm in tears just remembering her journey. She is everything to me, and I admire her in so many different ways.

Below is the sketch we got to work with at  Let's Get Sketchy, so come on by, have some fun and win some great prizes!!!

You Make Me Smile

Let me introduce you all to Ashley! She is my son's Ryan's new girlfriend and I LOVE HER! Ashley and Ryan have the same soft, humorous personality. When they are together all they do is laugh. I tried to get them to sit and take a "nice" photo, but every time they tried the "serious" look they burst into laughter. We had so much fun taking pictures. Ashley thinks it's fun to act silly and let me follow them around. She will get use to me, lol. So this is Ashley...and she is a real sweetie!! I did this layout for a challenge over at the My Mind's Eye blog. I just happened to buy the Kraft Fun line the other day so perfect combination!

Mr & Mrs Disney

This is Mr & Mrs. Disney! When we were in Disneyland the kids were having so much fun trying on hats at the different stores. When we found a Minny Bride and Mickey Groom we knew we had to have them for the wedding. This layout is for a call at Practical Scrappers for quilt inspired layouts. Make sure you stop by and join in the fun! I got my inspiration for this from the amazing sketch by Janice at Sketches With A Twist where you have to do the sketch and the twist is "green".

Wooohoooo I made the Top 15!!

This is just too much fun! I just made the Top 15 at Practical Scrappers . This is my new layout for the next round. It's your support and votes that are keeping in this competition, so once again I'm going to ask ( I know I'm getting to be a pain, lol) for you to take a moment if you can and stop by and vote! The link to vote is http://www.practicalscrappers.com/2012/01/3rd-round-layout-contest-vote-here.html  Our challenge was to use these beautiful photos of quilts. I chose the design of the quilt rather than the color.

I got the inspiration from the sketch at Stuck on U Sketches which to me had a quilt feel to it and the title inspiration came from the challenge at Bird Is The Word.

Supplies: Creative Imaginations, My Minds Eye Paris & Co, Michaels Ribbon, Misc. Buttons, Dusty Attic Chipboard, ColorBok Vellum Quotes, Prima Flowers, Prima Resist Canvas, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Walnut & Frayed Burlap, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Partridge in a pear tree.

He Who Plants a Garden, Plants Happiness

This layout is of my daughters wedding shower. We had so much fun. She wanted something unique so we did an afternoon tea party with a twist. We had a wacky shoe contest. We had prizes for the highest shoes, the shoes with the most bling, the most sensible, the most outrageous. It was so much fun to see what all the people wore. We had a great day and I was so happy for her. So the first photo is of my daughter and I ( I was her matron of honor) and the little photo is of all the bridesmaids. I was looking for the right design and this morning found sketch #63 at Sketchabilities which was was designed by the fabulous Karan Gerber. It's another snowy day here, so....more scrapping?

Adore Framed Project

This is my version of a framed project that my sister and I did at Urban Scrapbook. The wonderfully talented Kelly designed and taught the class. We missed the actual night of the class, so the awesome ladies of Urban let us use their classroom to try and re-create Kelly's masterpiece. I learnt so much that day especially how to make those little spiral flowers. I used products I had never used before and learned techniques that were just too much fun. I changed up the paper a little because I wanted it to go above my piano and just loved the music note paper and a few odds and ends but I hope I did Kelly's project justice.  So, thank you so much Kelly and the girls at Urban for all your help.

It's a Love Thing

I was pretty excited to get out the MME Christmas Paper and work on a challenge. You had to get inspiration from the sketch at my minds eye and use the theme It's a ____ thing". Well I couldn't help but use the photos from the day Chris proposed to Nicole! Christmas morning! I had fun distressing and glitter misting almost everything!! This was a fun challenge! I also entered this layout at Frosted Designs. The new challenge was to use glitter! Oh did I glitter, lol. The title, the snowflakes, the little stockings I made. It's hard to see in the scan but my daughter came in my office and said..." Mom..that's a pretty sparkly layout"...Too much glitter??? Never, lol.

The Paper Variety Week 9 Challenge

I saw a challenge at the the paper variety which asked for 3 things..one colour of mist or paint, two flowers and three different patterned papers. I had just the perfect layout. I have tons of flowers which are all glimmer misted (may be hard to see), and I'm a patterned paper lover! This layout is about Nicole and Christopher who have been together since junior high and are now getting married. These are two of their engagement photos. I just love the paper variety and have so much fun playing there!

Love Lessons Learned

I just can't get enough of working with Nicole & Chris's engagement photos. There are so many of them I'm in my glory when I see a new challenge and I know exactly which photos to use. Thank goodness they have 91! I think I will have them all scrapped sooner or later and then they will have an engagement album! This is for a challenge on the My minds eye blog. This is the first challenge I have entered there, so we will see what happens! The  theme was lessons learned so I chose "love lessons learned" to document how far they have come as a couple. The love of two junior high students to the mature love of two young adults.  I just can't wait for their wedding day.

My Meadow

This is another photo from our trip to Waterton. When I found this meadow I jumped out of the suv and ran. I sang, danced and sat in the meadow. My darling husband saw this as a definite photo opportunity and grabbed the camera. It was a day I will always remember...a day in my meadow! I did this layout for a sketch challenge on my little sketch blook. Liz Qualman is such a talented artist and designer. I love her sketches! So thank you Liz!

This Old House

On one of our weekends at the cabin we took a drive so I could take pictures of old houses! I'm in love with old homes. These homes hold so much history. Who lived there? What was their life like? It's so fun to imagine what memories these homes hold. This layout was for a challenge on the scraproom blog.  We had to scraplift a layout from the gallery. I chose a beautiful layout by Jennifer Moore. So thank you Jennifer!
