Long Overdue at the Lakeside Library by Holly Danvers

Rain is quite content with her new life in Wisconsin, living in a cabin in the woods and running the Lofty Pines Library which is attached to her house. She also loves that her best friend Julia and husband Nick live right next door. She is cuddled up for winter and could not be any happier. She even met a new friend, Wallace Benson who came to borrow a cookbook. Little did she know what would happen next.

The local fishing jamboree is under way in Lofty Pines with big prizes to be won. When Wallace is found dead in his fishing tent, it looks like the prime suspect is Nick. Can Rain and Julia put their sleuthing skills to work once again and clear his name? Nick certainly could not have done this, but could they be wrong?

I have thoroughly enjoyed coming back to Lofty Pines to see what Rain is up to in this cozy mystery series by Holly Danvers. The characters are well written and the description of the scenery along the lake make you want to pack your bags and head to Wisconsin. It is a cozy mystery, but one that will keep you glued to the pages trying to figure out who the killer is. Thank you so much to Crooked Lane Books and Holly Danvers for my advanced readers copy. Murder at the Lakeside Library by Holly Danvers

Rain Wilmont has just arrived in Lofty Pines for a much-needed rest after the death of her husband. All she wants is some peace and quiet and to rest and recuperate. All that goes out the window when she finds out she must open the towns library and have people trapsing through her home and finds a dead body in her yard. In order to have some peace of mind and some rest, Rain and her best friend Julia vow to solve the mystery of the murder. That should not be too hard right?

This was such a great start to a new series by Holly Danvers. A small town, a beautiful lakeside cottage, two best friends and a mystery are the perfect ingredients for a great book. Oh, let us not forget the handsome police officer who happens to be Julia’s brother! I hope to read more about that storyline in upcoming books and I am excited to see what trouble Rain gets into next. What I really loved was the relationship between Rain and Julia. They were humorous, got into a little trouble but were loyal just as best friends should be. An awesome summer read and a solid five stars. What You Never Knew by Jessica Hamilton

May and June are two sisters, and best friends. One sister is deceased and one sister is alive and they are both narrators of this fascinating story of secrets, lies and deep buried family secrets.

Shortly after May’s death, June finds out that the family cottage is still owned by her the family. When she decides to visit the cottage, things are not quite as they seem. As she unburies the family secrets, she finds out more about her family than she wants to know. Was her childhood really what it seemed?

What a captivating novel by Jessica Hamilton. I loved how both sisters shared their experiences within their family and how they bonded over being brought up by their eclectic mother. We learn that family ties are never broken even in death. I loved Jessica’s writing style and I found the novel to be very interesting and kept my rapt attention until the last page. I look forward to reading more from this author.  The Silent Widow

Psychologist Nikki Roberts has just lost her husband and is trying to move on with her life. Suddenly one of Nikki’s patients is murdered. As the story unfolds, it’s looking like Nikki is the link to not only what is happening currently, but she is also the link to past murders. The detectives on the case are split in their theories whether Nikki is guilty, or whether she is the target. Nikki is certain the police are missing something so she hires her own private detective to investigate. The story starts twisting and turning leaving the reader wanting to unravel the mystery as much as Nikki does.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down. Just when you think you had it figured out, the story would twist again. Little bits start falling into place from the past that starts tying the whole story together. Right at the end of the book, another twist  takes place which leaves you speechless.  So grab your coffee and settle in for an amazing mystery.
