Promise

Today was a really sad day at our house. Our dog of sixteen years, Tessa is not doing well. At the Extended Care facility where I work we term it "End of Life". We are keeping her comfortable and staying by her side. While I was keeping her company today I found a few challenge sites and decided to do what I do when I'm happy, upset, sad, mad or glad. I scrapbook. It's my therapy. So to keep my mind occupied, I'm combing four challenges today. The title came from the Bird is the Word challenge blog where the word to use was "PROMISE" This is my husband and I and our promise to each other:

Count Your Blessings
Bear Each Others Burdens
Forgive and Forget
Be Kind & Tender Hearted
Comfort One Another
Keep Your Promises
Be Proud of Each Other
Be True to Each Other
Look After Each Other
Love

The beautiful sketch is from Creative Scrappers

The color inspiration came from Color Combos Galore
I thought the little hats looked like flowers and I loved the color combination. Also saw the doily under the hat and decided to use one too!

And my fun came from The Paper Variety  where the challenge was to make fan fold embellishments! I'm new to that technique, so it took a bit of work, lol. I also tried stitching on my layout for the first time. Do you believe I had a mini sewing machine downstairs where my craft stuff is buried? Oh...I'm loving it!!

Supplies: Bo Bunny Et Cetera Watermark & Geography, Bo Bunny Love Shack Groovin  & Et Cetera Symphony for the flowers, Prima Flowers, Wilton Doilies, Tattered Angels  Wheat Beer Glimmer Mist, My new/old mini sewing machine for stitching.

Beautiful

Today I started an 8x8 mini album for my daughter of her wedding photos. Now...looking through challenges I see the The Paper Variety has a challenge for black and white with a kiss of color. YEAH! I'm doing Nicole's album all in black and white. Then I hunt for a sketch...go right to Creative Scrappers and find another amazing sketch ( I love the sketches there). Now I need a theme. At Scrapping The Music the challenge is the song "Who Says". The lyrics are so relevant to my daughter. So a perfect combination wouldn't you say? I felt like I was almost doing a mini layout with mini things, lol. How fun! With more challenges like these I will have the album done in no time. I'm using another Creative Scrappers sketch but it's for a design team assignment which you will see soon. My goal is to have her album done for her birthday at the end of February! Better get moving, lol

Supplies: Bo Bunny Enchanted Romance, Evening, Harlequin papers. Wilton Doilies, Recollections Floral Embellishments, Bridal Bling Butterflies, Tattered Angels Mist Blitzen, Perfect Pearls Mist Grape fizz, Prima Say it in Crystals.

The happiest day of my life

I'm just so excited when I see a challenge on Bo Bunny. This one was to use circles. I of course grabbed the Enchanted Line and found a background paper with circles, made flowers into circles, used circle stickers and just had an amazing afternoon playing with my favourite paper line. I know I have said it before but this is the PERFECT paper line for Nicole's wedding photos. I'm trying not to hoard it, I'm going to use every little scrap. Keep the challenges coming Bo Bunny...I have alot of paper, lol. I'm also entering this at the Paper Variety which has an anything goes challenge. Another of my favourite challenge sites!

Gratitude

I know I was suppose to be cleaning my closet this afternoon, but....I came across this sketch at sketchabilities and wouldn't you know it....I couldn't resist. I had this new Bobunny paper I had just bought, some thanksgiving photos that we just took, and a great sketch. Now really...clean the closet or stay in my studio and scrap? Easy choice right? lol. I also saw a challenge at the paper variety blog which inspired my take on the sketch.  sketchesinthyme is also having an open challenge so I'm entering my take on this sketch there too. What a awesome afternoon!

Supplies:  Patterened Paper: Bobunny Forever Fall , Forever Fall Sunflower, and Forever Fall Dot. Background paper:  MME Mischievous "These Days" Paper. Stickers: Bobunny Gratitude Cardstock Stickers. Embellishments: Buttons, Micheals assorted leaves.

Santa Mom

This is me "Santa Mom". I was talking with my best friend Ellen the other day trying to find time to get together. She said "How come in December all my friends disappear?". We continued talking about how busy we were getting ready for Christmas. Then she adds "If all women were to go on a holiday or disappear, they would have to cancel Christmas". So I was thinking of her when I was doing this layout. I think we are all Santa Mom's!! So Merry Christmas to all the Mom's". I also am entering this in a sketch challenge at Frosted Designs and a  die cut challenge at  Stuck on You Sketches. This morning I was looking at one of my favourite sites the paper variety, and the photo challenge with the adorable puppy and his santa hat made me think of this photo my hubby took, so I just had to enter it there too. Happy Holidays my friends!

Birthday Boy

This is my great nephew Noah on his first birthday! I am called his graunty, lol, which is short for great-aunt. We call him "baby blue" because he has the most beautiful blue eyes. I love the days I get to visit him and he has just learnt to give kisses, so now I'm really thrilled! I'm a pretty proud graunty. I used the sketch at sketchabilities and combined it with the week #13 challenge at the paper variety. I was so excited to use the MME alphabet soup line with his birthday pics! Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful sunny day!

Joy and Sunshine

Well...it's hard to get my boys to sit and do a "normal" photo by the Christmas tree, lol. They always come up with something unique. Last year it was sunglasses. I guess they thought it was a " bright and sunny Christmas", or maybe they are getting tired of having to pose in those Santa hats AGAIN, lol. Wait until I scrap Nicole who had her 3-D glasses on and a silly grin. WARNING: You pose, I shoot...it's gonna end up on my blog and on a challenge site for sure!!! I found the challenge on the Paper Variety which was a tic tac toe game...and oh what fun that was! So I chose...make a layout, black/white/red, and mixed alphas. The sketch for the challenge came from Frosted Designs. So thanks to Debbie for the sketch and PV for the fun game. Now we sing....."It's beginning to look alot like Christmas"! I'm off to decorate my tree..oh and yes...take more photos!!

Banff

These photos are from our trip to Banff this fall. We had just bought a new camera for our anniversary so we spent three days driving in the mountains and playing with the camera. It's great for me because fall layouts are my favourite to do. This was the first two page spread I have done in a long time. I use to do them all the time, but then switched to doing less photos and single spreads. This was for a sketch challenge at the paper variety. Julie Bonner is such a talented artist, so it was a pleasure to work with her sketch. When I look at these photos it reminds me of fall while I'm sitting here watching the snow fall. When is spring? lol.

Just an update! I was so excited to find out my layout won the prize pack this week! My first prize ever!!! I just had to share because I'm so excited, lol.

The Paper Variety Week 9 Challenge

I saw a challenge at the the paper variety which asked for 3 things..one colour of mist or paint, two flowers and three different patterned papers. I had just the perfect layout. I have tons of flowers which are all glimmer misted (may be hard to see), and I'm a patterned paper lover! This layout is about Nicole and Christopher who have been together since junior high and are now getting married. These are two of their engagement photos. I just love the paper variety and have so much fun playing there!

Piles of Smiles

We had so much fun on Thanksgiving taking pictures outside at Mom's. The kids were goofing around the we got some great shots! When I found the challenge at paper variety I knew just the photo and paper I wanted to use. Fall is one of my favourite times of year and I love scrapbooking with the browns, yellows, oranges and reds. I've been trying to use my Slice more so I made the flowers using it. I also love to distress and scrunch things! And...just for my sister....can you find the mesh? lol.

Paper Variety Week#4 Challenge

This photo had been sitting on my desk for a few days...then along came a challenge at The Paper Variety blog which asked you to scraplift one of the design teams layouts. When I saw Suzannes layout I knew that would fit my photo perfectly. I love using my mamarazzi line so it was an easy choice lol. So...thanks Suzanne for the inspiration! It's my very first submission to their site and I'm pretty excited to join the next challenge!
