The Maid - Book Review

Molly Gray is a maid at the Regency Grand Hotel. She loves her job and takes it very seriously. Molly looks forward to putting on her uniform each day and taking her cart of supplies to clean each room meticulously. Molly is also “different”, she is a tad awkward and does not interpret things as easily as other people. Her Gran always helped her, but now that Gran is gone, Molly is on her own. When she finds a hotel guest dead in his room, all fingers start to point to Molly. Can Molly figure out what really happened before it is too late?

What a refreshing story of one woman’s journey through life’s ups and downs. Molly’s character is so beautifully written, that I could not help but adore her. This is a great cozy mystery with interesting characters, twists, turns and is one you do not want to miss. I received a copy of the book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Coming Home to Seashell Harbor by Miranda Liasson

When Hadley returns home after a very public heartbreak looking for some time to relax and reassess her future all while in the comforting arms of her grandmother, that is the last thing she will find. What she does find is her grandmother in the hospital, thinking of retiring and selling Pooch Palace, her dog business to none other than Hadley’s high school crush, Tony aka Cam so he can close the business and build a restaurant. Hadley refuses to let that happen and is ready to battle Tony when her grandmother has an idea that will either bring them closer to together or tear the town apart.

What a fabulous start to a new series by Miranda Liasson. I loved the characters, especially Hadley’s feisty grandmother. The story was about family, second chances, small towns, and rescue animals, all my favourite things wrapped up into one amazing story. The story flowed well, all the main and supporting characters were well written, and I can not wait for the next book in the series. What You Never Knew - Book Review

What You Never Knew by Jessica Hamilton

May and June are two sisters, and best friends. One sister is deceased and one sister is alive and they are both narrators of this fascinating story of secrets, lies and deep buried family secrets.

Shortly after May’s death, June finds out that the family cottage is still owned by her the family. When she decides to visit the cottage, things are not quite as they seem. As she unburies the family secrets, she finds out more about her family than she wants to know. Was her childhood really what it seemed?

What a captivating novel by Jessica Hamilton. I loved how both sisters shared their experiences within their family and how they bonded over being brought up by their eclectic mother. We learn that family ties are never broken even in death. I loved Jessica’s writing style and I found the novel to be very interesting and kept my rapt attention until the last page. I look forward to reading more from this author. Her Dark Lies by J.T. Ellison

A fabulous thrilling chilling suspense

Claire Hunter is on her way to her dream wedding in Italy with the man she loves more than anything. What she will face during her time there will chill you to the bone. Secrets, lies, family, deceit, and long dead bodies all resurface to keep you turning pages long into the night.

This was a chilling suspense novel, and I got drawn into the web of deceit right from the first page. The characters are complex, and the author, J.T. Ellison keeps you guessing throughout the book. The narrative is written from the viewpoint of two different characters, which I found also added to the depth of the story. The only drawback I found personally was that at the beginning the story was believable, but as the story continued, it got a little far fetched. I did enjoy the book though and loved the authors descriptive writing style. My thanks to Harper Collins, J.T. Ellison and Netgalley for the advanced copy to read and review with my honest opinions.

The Vineyard at Painted Moon by Susan Mallery

This is just such a fabulous story by Susan Mallery. It has all the right ingredients for a hit novel. Family drama, friendships, past hurts, and new beginnings. Mackenzie’s character was so well written, you could feel her pain and frustration. The supporting characters were so diverse it just added to the intricate family web Mackenzie finds herself in. I really enjoyed the story and loved to see Mackenzie triumph over her life circumstances.
