When Mallory opens her grandmothers journal and keepsake Christmas ornaments, a new tradition is about to begin. When her grandmothers story comes to life with each new ornament unwrapped, Mallory will have to make some tough decisions. Will Hollis put his past aside and be the solid trusting friend she needs? Will the Christmas play be ready in time?

This was such a beautiful Christmas story. I loved unwrapping her grandmother’s story throughout the book. The relationship between Mallory and Hollis was so sweet I couldn’t help but hoped they would get together. Will they get everything done in time to host the wedding? What will happen when Carolina secret of her illness is discovered? Will it end what Carolina and Evan have rekindled?

Annie Rains brings us this fifth and wonderful book in the Somerset Lake series with her amazing writing style. This was such a sweet story of second chances and new beginnings. Since his NFL career is over, he feels he has no choice but to accept her offer. When he arrives the first person, he meets is True, and they get off to a rocky start. Soon things shift and they become friends. Will Exavier and True find what they have both been looking for in this small Alaskan town?

This novel is the first in a new series for Belle Calhoune. She brings together family and friends in a small town in her own unique way of telling a wonderful story. I love the characters and especially Hattie who is just too much fun. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see if the other two brothers can find love in Alaska. If trying to play hostess is not enough, Jane has also come face to face with her first crush when she was just a girl, Lord Adrian Fielding. She has not seen him since that dreadful day when her father died and now, they are thrown together to help solve the mysterious death of Viscount Gilford. As they gather clues, the pieces start falling into place and it seems this one murder may not be the only one.

MandaCollins brings us another witty, fast paced love story with a twist of mayhem and murder. Her writing style is so sharp witted with interesting complex characters and a mystery with twists and turns, it was hard to put this book down. I loved the previous books in the series and it was also fun to visit past characters. ChristinaBritton brings us another fabulous tale in the Synneful Spinsters series. I loved Seraphina and Iain’s characters, so full of whit and humour. The banter between them just makes you laugh and the chemistry between them is undeniable.  And I can not forget the unforgettable Phineas, Seraphina’s parrot who brings much delight to the story with his antics. Although characters from the other books do make an appearance in this novel, it can be read as a stand-alone book, but trust me you will want to sit back and read the whole series, it is fabulous. Willow is a widowed mother of two and is back home in Lake in the Clouds carrying a huge secret. She knows it time to tell her mom the truth about her marriage, but can she work up the courage? She finds a new friend unexpectedly in a reclusive neighbour whom she has a run in with, and maybe he is just the thing she needs in her life to move on. 

As a family wedding approaches, and new secrets are uncovered can Willow and Genevieve find a way to rekindle their close relationship they once had?

Emily March has been a favourite author of mine for a long time. Her series Eternity Springs is what encouraged my love of small town series a long time ago. Balancing Act is the second book in the Lake in the Clouds series, which so happens to be in a town close to Eternity Springs. I loved how the romance in the book was a slow burn, taking a friendship and turning it into a romance, slowly and thoughtfully. I appreciate that in novels which makes it more true to life. Her family and friends will stay out of her life plus she gets to hang out with Josh Callahan whom she had a crush on as a teenager. Things seem to be going according to plan except when Emma and Josh both start to realize this may be becoming more than just a ruse to fool their families. Can they keep their hearts from being broken when their feelings for each other move beyond friendship?

I loved this last book in the Highland Falls series by Debbie Mason. It was so nice to read Emma’s and Josh’s story and to also catch up with past characters from the previous novels. I am a fan of small town, recurring character novels and this was a fabulous series. Debbie has a way of writing that brings the reader into the story and you can just sit and imagine the small town she is writing about. How is Natasha going to keep her cool and her feelings to herself when he is the only man she has ever loved?

Antonio is back in Firefly Lake and is at a crossroads. He has spent years in finance and needs a break. When an old family friend offers him his construction company, Antonio quickly accepts as building things has always been his passion. When he finds out he will be working along side Natasha, things get complicated quickly. Can he keep their relationship strictly business or will his feelings for her ruin it all?

I adored this novel by Sheryl Lister and loved Natasha’s and Antonio’s story. It was also fun to revisit the characters from the first novel in the series, A Table for Two. I would love to join them for their supper club dinners and hang out with them all. The story is fun, full of small town antics, friendship and second chances. They tolerate each other but when Becca and Sadie get thrown together for a month long stay at a cabin, they will soon discover that they can support, encourage and understand each other and develop a friendship they are both craving. They will not only develop new friendships but maybe also true love.

Amy Pine not only gives her readers a friendship and romance novel, but also a story of self discovery. We have all been in a place when we didn’t know what our next step would be and this story is all about how to move forward. The story was witty, funny and heart warming. I loved the book and the writing style of Ms. Pine. When I read the synopsis for the book, I did read the first novel in the series first, The Bloom Girls and I found that although it can be a stand a lone novel, both major characters were introduced in the first novel. Now that she is spending more time with Gil, she is thinking that maybe he is not so bad, after all he was named Bachelor of the Year! As tension mounts on city council, so do the feelings between Moira and Gil. Who will become the new mayor? What will happen to her mother's business?

Annie Rains does it again with this witty, sweet romance set in Somerset Lake. The characters are very well written, and I was anxious to see how the story would unfold. It was also fun to visit with the characters from the previous books in the series and catch up. Although you could read this one as a standalone book, once you meet the characters you will want to hear their stories as well. I have really enjoyed the series and want to thank Forever Publishing for my advanced copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily. I loved the characters right from the beginning of the story and could not resist cheering for Harlow and Nick to end up together. Who doesn’t like a happily ever after! Phoebe Mills is one of my new favourite authors. Her series The Sunshine Corner, has been a delight to read. The characters are witty, genuine and heartwarming. I loved Rebecca and Jacksons story of best friends testing the waters of a different kind of relationship. I also enjoyed catching up with the characters of the first too books. I adored this novel by Christina Britton. The characters are witty, loveable and complex. The storyline is fresh and fun, and I loved that Bronwyn has a unique passion in life. The banter between the characters was humorous and the supporting characters brought a new dimension to the story. Emily knows she will be leaving at the end of the summer, so is risking her heart again worth it? When Emily finds a hidden letter, will it tear her world apart once again?

Author Kristin Harper brings us a story of loss and tragedy, hope and new beginnings. The characters are so well written you can feel their emotions coming right off the pages. I was drawn right into Emily and Luke’s story and loved not only their characters, but the supporting characters as well. It was so heartwarming watching Emily recover and find her way again. When she runs into the doctor that saved her life, Caleb Scott, she rallies him to help her convince her family that she is well enough to be on her own. When her once buried feelings for Caleb resurface, she does not know what to do. Things get even more complicated when she realizes Caleb is married, and she agrees to rent a house only to find out she will have a roommate; one she is surprised and not very happy to see. Can Brianna recover and create a new life for herself?

I absolutely loved this book by Debbie Mason as I was quickly drawn into the story. Even though the issue of abuse is apparent throughout the book, there is still lighthearted and humorous moments as well. There are multiple characters in the story, each adding to the detailed plot with their own issues they are trying to resolve. Forever Publishing graciously gifted me a copy of the book which I read and reviewed without bias.  I was delighted to return to Highland Falls, and I would love to invite you to come visit this sweet small town too.

Dreaming of a Heart Lake Christmas by Sarah Robinson

Nola Bennett is back in Heart Lake, but she does not plan on staying. She is here to pack up and sell her grandmothers historic house nicknamed “The Castle” and use the funds to start her own business back in the city. Although Nola has her plan in motion, her best friend Rosie thinks Nola should keep the house and start her business in Heart Lake, and she is not the only one. Tanner Dean, Nola’s high school crush also thinks Nola should stay. As Nola spends more time with her friends, she starts thinking that maybe she is making a mistake. With Christmas getting closer and a snowstorm heading to Heart Lake, things have a way of working out just the way they should.

I loved this novel by Sarah Robinson. A small town, friends reuniting, a high school crush and a snowstorm all blended together seamlessly to bring us this first book in her fabulous new series. The characters were all well written and I enjoyed getting to know the supporting characters which I hope will have stories of their own in upcoming novels. My heartfelt thanks to Forever Publishing for my gifted copy which I read and reviewed honestly. This is one series to keep your eye on friends.

Her family was happy until a problem arose with an inheritance from the children’s grandfather, and now her children are not speaking to one another and are deep in a legal battle with one another. Jake Prentice picked up the pieces when his father passed. Jake was young but he was the planner in the family, the fixer, the one who stepped in and took care of things. Now he is on a journey of finding out who he really is both to himself and his family. Jake is stressed, so he quits his job, packs up and finds himself at his mother’s lodge. When he invites the woman he fired, Tess Crenshaw to the lodge, he might have finally lost it, or maybe this was the best decision he ever made.

When I heard that Emily March had a new series called Lake in the Clouds I could not wait to start reading. Ms. March has been a favourite author of mine for years as I read through her Eternity Springs series. This new series, does not disappoint. A small town, a distressed family trying to put the pieces back together, new budding romances and idyllic scenery are just the right ingredients to take her readers on a new journey. My favourite part is that Lake in the Clouds is close to Eternity Springs so we do get a little visit from one of the most loved characters in a cameo appearance. Ashley Howland Scott has inherited Howland House and the Rose Cottage from her grandmother in the small town of Moonlight Bay. She and her young son are trying to find their way after losing the one man who completed their family, her husband and Jackie’s father. Ashley thinks that after this many years she may be ready to fall in love again, but the one man she has feelings for is off limits as Micah is the minister of her church and he could not possibly date a member of his congregation. Ashley is friends with Micah, and really appreciates his guidance and relationship with her son but that is all they can be. When the local quilting club decides it time to find Minister Micah a wife, Ashley is in a bind. How can she help find him a wife when she wants that role for herself?

Hope Ramsay captures small town living, friends, family and love so beautifully in this novel from the Moonlight Bay series. I adored the main characters as they were so well written and I had a hard time putting this book down. They faced real world issues with faith, single parenting and falling in love. A Table for Two by Sheryl Lister

Serenity Wheeler loves to cook so much that she invented a Supper Club for her friends. They share their hopes and dreams, and even a few laughs as they gather at Serenity’s for dinner. When one of her friends moves for a job, her brother Gabriel moves into her house. When she suggests that Serenity be his welcoming committee, she knows that with Serenity’s kind heart he will be well taken care of.

Gabriel has moved to Firefly Lake temporarily until he can convince his grandmother to move back to the city with him. His life is not suited to a small town and he has no intention of staying. That is until he meets the irresistible neighbor Serenity who leaves him tongue tied at every encounter.

If you love a fun, heartwarming, small town romance with a lot of amazing food thrown in, then this is just the book you have been looking for. All of the characters and supporting characters are so loveable you will be begging for an invitation to the Supper Club. Sheryl Listers writing draws you right into the story and just keeps you wanting more. I really hope this becomes a series as the friends of both Serenity and Gabriel hint at having their own stories to tell. My thanks to Forever Publishing for my advanced readers copy. Now that his friend has passed on, Alex has a plan how he can help. He must renovate and help Kit sell the old Victorian relic that her husband bought before he passed. Can Alex keep his long-harboured feelings for Kit aside while he tries to help her?

Miranda Liasson brings us such a sweet story of love lost and new beginnings. All the characters were very well written, and I loved getting to know Kit, Alex and especially Oliver. The struggles the characters faced were written with such depth and dimension, I was drawn right into the small town of Seashell Harbor and the people that lived there. I was gifted an advanced readers copy by Forever Publishing, so my thanks to them. My review is entirely my own. This is an awesome series my friends and a solid five star book.
