A Governess's Guide to Passion and Peril by Manda Collins.

Jane Halliwell, a once prominent member of society, is now working as a governess. Her father’s death left her and her mother destitute and shunned by society. The only job she could get was at the mercy of her father’s longtime friend, Viscount Gilford from the Foreign Office. When Jane finds him murdered during a gathering at their home, she is forced back into society as the hostess to keep an eye on the guests being held for questioning. If trying to play hostess is not enough, Jane has also come face to face with her first crush when she was just a girl, Lord Adrian Fielding. She has not seen him since that dreadful day when her father died and now, they are thrown together to help solve the mysterious death of Viscount Gilford. As they gather clues, the pieces start falling into place and it seems this one murder may not be the only one.

MandaCollins brings us another witty, fast paced love story with a twist of mayhem and murder. Her writing style is so sharp witted with interesting complex characters and a mystery with twists and turns, it was hard to put this book down. I loved the previous books in the series and it was also fun to visit past characters. At the train station, Poppy is robbed and then rescued by the one man she cannot stand, Joshua Fielding, The Duke of Langham. When the Duke suggests that maybe they could help each other, Poppy is backed into a corner. Could she really pull off being the Duke’s fiancé to gain his help with her sisters' case? There is only one way to find out, and that's to go along with his plan. What ensues next is a fabulous adventure for both Poppy and the Duke.

Manda Collins has opened up a whole new world for me with these witty historical romances. I was not a fan of historical romances, but thanks to Ms. Manda, I cannot get enough. I love the banter and the strong female characters. It was fun to read Poppy’s story as she has made some appearances in the first two books in the series. I also enjoyed the history part of the novel and how things were done back in the 1800’s. My thanks to Manda Collins and Forever Publishing for my copy, which I read and reviewed voluntarily. This is one series I would recommend picking up friends, you will not be disappointed.

Caro’s parents are determined that she should wed but Caro is bound and determined to choose her own husband. When her dear friend Effie is kidnapped, Caro will stop at nothing to find her, even if that means working with the man who broke her heart, Vicount  Wrakham, Valention Thorn. When Caro and Val are caught in what people believe was a compromising position, will Caro risk her families reputation, or will she find herself once again engaged to the man who betrayed her?

Lord Valentine (Val) Thorn is the new Viscount Wrackham, and his family is urging him to find a bride to carry on the family name. He is bound and determined to choose his own wife after he chose his family a few years ago over the one woman he ever truly loved. When fate throws Val and Caro together, will he finally stand up to his father and choose love or will he choose family duty?

I absolutely adored this novel by Manda Collins. Her witty, charming, sassy strong female characters are so well written that you become enthralled with them right from start. With being introduced to Caro and Val in the first novel of the series, I was excited to read their story in this one. I am not usually one for historical romances, but I was hooked on Ms. Collins writing style and really enjoyed learning about life back in the 1800’s. Now I will say I am a historical romance fan and can not wait to read the next novel in the series. A Lady's Guide to Mischief and Mayhem by Manda Collins

Let us travel back to 1865 and meet Lady Katherine Bascomb. She has inherited her late husband’s newspaper and has had an active role as a columnist ever since. When she sees that the local police are not doing what she deems a good job, she gets involved and teams up with Caro Hardcastle to investigate and starts an article in her newspaper to inform women of the situation at hand.  All seems to be working in her favour, until the wrong man is arrested, and she has angered the investigating officer, Andrew Eversham. When Lady Katherine is asked to take a step back, she does just the opposite, she dives headfirst into what soon becomes a life threatening situation. Has she hindered more than she has helped, or will Andrew see that she can be very useful in solving the case? What will happen when they start having feelings for one another? Can they put personal feeling aside to solve the crime?

This first book in the new “A Lady’s Guide” series by Manda Collins was a definite page turner. I loved Lady Katherine’s strong, witty and independent character. She is someone who knows what she wants and is not afraid to show it. It was especially insightful given the timeline of the 1800’s. I adored the banter between her and Andrew and was found giggling out loud more than once. The mystery had me guessing throughout the story and I applaud Ms. Collins brilliant writing style. My thanks to Forever Publishing for my advanced readers copy that I voluntarily read and reviewed.
