Summer Street Book Review

For years Jo’s worked hard at her coffee shop Cuppa Jo’s. She wants to take care of her brother and grandmother, so none of them have to worry again. Jo also has another idea to take her coffee to a new level and with the help of her friends, it has now become a reality. Jo loves her business, her family and friends, but she does want to be married and have a family of her own. She thought Blue who has been her boyfriend for almost a decade was getting ready to propose on their vacation, but that plan went sideways when he had to return to his family.

While Jo’s new coffee venture is getting started, she meets Rocky, who is more than happy to help her get her project planned and released. With Blue deciding on his future and his family, Jo has her own decisions to make. Should she wait and see if Blue finally comes through or should she forge a new path both in business and her personal life?

Once again Jan Moran brings us a tale of a family, friends and love. The characters are all so well written and it was nice to see past characters reappear in this novel. Jo is so lovable and I was cheering her on from the first chapter. The love triangle kept me guessing right until the end! The book was fabulous and my thanks to Jan Moran for my advanced readers copy which I voluntarily read and reviewed. This is definitely a book you want at the top of your summer reading list friends.

The Neighbors are Watching - Book Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Aggie Blum Thompson’s “The Neighbors are Watching” is a suspenseful urban thriller full of twists, turns and an ending you will not see coming.

A quiet suburban neighbourhood has an unsolved murder that the neighbors blow off as a home invasion gone bad. When a woman, Caren who was at a party wakes up the next day with no recollection of what happened the night before, things start to heat up. Caren and an unsuspecting ally Finn start digging deeper to find out what really happened that night and the night of the murder. Are the two connected? Will they get to close to the truth to put their own lives in danger?

I loved the novel and could just imagine this quiet high-income neighbourhood with all their secrets, lies and half truths. The novel was well written with believable characters and story lines. I loved all the twists and turns and how the novel progressed. My thanks to St. Martin’s Press for the advanced readers copy which I voluntarily read and reviewed. A perfect summer read to curl up with.

The Summer Beach Spring Fling celebration is just around the corner and Shelly has big plans for the Seabreeze Inns gardens and greenhouse. The only thing is the gardens have been a work in progress since they started restoring the inn and they have plenty of work left. When the work begins, will the garden uncover another secret from the past?  With the deadline fast approaching have Shelly and Ivy committed to more than they can deliver?

The Broken Hearts Beach Club - book review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Three friends, Emily, Sienna and Blair have each had life changing moments lately. When Sienna’s client has an empty beach house they can use, they quickly pack their bags. What better way to weather life’s storms than to take a vacation to a beautiful house on the beach. When they arrive, they are surprised by a personal chef, Patrick that shows up to cook for them every day. He is moody, broody and keeps to himself. Emily’s curiosity is peaked so keeps trying to engage Patrick in conversation. As the three friends enjoy the beach a storm brews and they are faced with not only Patrick, but the storms of their lives.

Jenny Hale is such an amazing author that I was excited to read this new book of telling the story of three friends each facing their own problems, yet helping each other. It was so well written, I was drawn right into the story from the very beginning. The characters were easy to relate to and the story flowed so well. My thanks to Harpeth Road Press, Jenny Hale and Netgalley for my advanced readers copy that I read and reviewed voluntarily. A perfect summer beach read.

The Bristlecone Writers' Group - Book Review

The Bristlecone retirement community is anything but boring. Just ask the members of the writing group. When a member suddenly dies, their world gets even more interesting. With only a single piece of paper with a list of books to give them a clue, they soon get involved in something much bigger than they could imagine. They start uncovering secrets and stories which lead the group to even more questions. What will happen when it’s all revealed?

This was such a fun read by Lisa Williams. The characters were very likeable and had complex lives which intertwined with the main story. Each chapter highlighted one persons life and I liked reading more in-depth about each character. I also liked how the book focused on an older age group. My thanks to the author Lisa Williams, Harpeth Road Press and Netgalley for my advanced copy which I voluntarily read and reviewed. It was a pure delight.

The Next Big Thing - Book Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cora Lockwood is at a crossroad. She lost her job, her grandmother has passed and now she is headed to Sunrise, North Carolina to sell her grandmothers café. What she doesn’t factor in is the townsfolk who want her to keep the café open and a handsome troublemaking chef who also wants her to keep the café. When she is confronted by the scheming developer who throws a wrench into her plans, she is soon left wondering just what her future might hold. When long buried secrets start surfacing, she turns to her grandmothers three friends, her frustrating chef and one big dog to help her save the café . But will she be able to save it before the clock strikes twelve and she loses everything?

This was just the sweetest novel by Erin Scoggins. The characters were so lovable that I was rooting for Cora right from page one. The supporting characters are so funny and heartwarming. Everything and everyone blended together so beautifully. I was also thrilled to find out this is book one in the new Sunrise Beach series. My thanks to Harpeth Road Press and the author, Erin Scoggins for my advanced readers copy which I voluntarily read and reviewed. A solid five star read friends.

Mad Mabel - Book Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Elsie Mabel Fitzpatrick is eighty-one and all she wants is to be left alone in her house on her quiet street.  When a little girl across the way keeps showing up on her porch insisting, they become friends, Elsie slowly relents. She has not had a real friend in decades. When a neighbour is found deceased though, Elsie aka Mad Mabel becomes the number one suspect and her cover is blown. When two reporters show up, Elsie decides maybe it is time to tell her story.

Sally Hepworth brought us a story that just keeps you guessing. With twists and turns along the way, you can not help but become engrossed in the novel. I loved the dual time lines of Elsie’s story, slowly releasing the details of Mad Mabel’s life. The characters were also very well written and I was so surprised towards the end of the novel. My thanks to St. Martin’s Press, the author and Netgalley for my advanced copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily. This novel is definitely a must for your 2026 book lists friends.

Under The Northern Lights - Book Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Aurora Daniels is in Alaska. It’s been her dream to photograph the beautiful place her parents met and fell in love. If she can capture just the right photos it could mean a job offer that she has only dreamed about. When she finds herself delayed because of a storm, she finds herself in a dreamy little cottage surrounded by the Weston family on a small island. As she tours the island with the rugged Gage Weston, her photographs take on a new meaning and soon Aurora is faced with a decision.

I adored this novel by Lindsey Brooks. The characters were so lovable and her description of Alaska felt like I was there myself. The story flowed so seamlessly and I found it hard to put it down wanting to follow Aurora and Gage on their next adventure. My thanks to Harpeth Road publishing, the author Lindsey Brooks who graciously gifted me an advanced copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily. Grab a blanket and curl up with this feel good cozy romance set in beautiful Alaska.

A Promise of Forever - Book Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Terri Rhodes has no idea how to fix her marriage. Everything was fine until it wasn’t. Her husband Jon is a lawyer who works long hours and Terri is an ER nurse who works just as many. They have let their commitment to their marriage slip. Now Terri sees only one way out, and that is to leave for awhile. This will either help or hinder their marriage. How hard are they both willing to work to restore their happily ever after? Will the supper club friends be able to offer any advice?

This novel by Sheryl Lister was such a good read. I loved the characters and being married for a long time, I was routing for them from the beginning. I thought the book brought a tender subject to light and I actually gained a few marriage tips along the way. It was also great to catch up with the other supper club characters and as usual I loved the banter between them all. My thanks to the author Sheryl Lister and Forever, Grand Central Publishing for my advanced copy which I read and review voluntarily. A great beach read for the summer.

Everything is Probably Fine - Harlequin Blog Tour

Lorna Lott is up for a promotion to Senior Vice President, that is until she makes a grave error in her email and is now sent to a thirty-day wellness program. She does not think she needs to go, she does not have any unresolved issues, does she? Well maybe a few, namely she has no friends, she has closed herself off to the world and she lives with all her past regrets. Maybe if she does this program, she can get her promotion and meet the requirements of her inheritance from her mother and she can then buy back her grandmothers house where she now lives as a renter. When Lorna befriends her handsome neighbour and his eight-year-old son, she has no idea how much they can help her move forward from her past.

Julia London is one of my favourite authors and an amazing writer so I was so excited to read the novel. It was fabulous. The characters and supporting characters were enjoyable and I especially loved the relationship between Lorna and Bean, the little boy. I also liked how we got to dive into Lorna’s issues along side of her and watch her face her past and plan her future. The novel had tough issues, lots of laughs and a great romance. My thanks to Harper Muse, Julia London and Netgalley for my advanced readers copy which I voluntarily read and reviewed. Easily a solid five star read.

Thank you so much for stopping by the farmhouse. Lynn
