Gratitude

I know I was suppose to be cleaning my closet this afternoon, but....I came across this sketch at sketchabilities and wouldn't you know it....I couldn't resist. I had this new Bobunny paper I had just bought, some thanksgiving photos that we just took, and a great sketch. Now really...clean the closet or stay in my studio and scrap? Easy choice right? lol. I also saw a challenge at the paper variety blog which inspired my take on the sketch.  sketchesinthyme is also having an open challenge so I'm entering my take on this sketch there too. What a awesome afternoon!

Supplies:  Patterened Paper: Bobunny Forever Fall , Forever Fall Sunflower, and Forever Fall Dot. Background paper:  MME Mischievous "These Days" Paper. Stickers: Bobunny Gratitude Cardstock Stickers. Embellishments: Buttons, Micheals assorted leaves.

My Son

I was so excited to use my new Basic Grey on this layout! When I saw the sketch at sketches in thyme, I knew I had to try it. I loved the little circles in the sketch, but decided to make mine big! After starting the sketch I saw a challenge at the scraproom, which called for a two word title and one photo. Well...I couldn't resist doing the two challenges in one! I call these a "double header". Challenges are so much fun. They help me step "out of the box" and try new things. This layout is just about Ry and I hanging out and sharing a hug. I love my boy!!

My Sunflower

This is all about my sunflower! When I had surgery, Nicole bought me a bouquet of sunflowers which are one of my favourite flowers. We were playing with the camera at the cabin and took this photo which I love (it's my screensaver lol). I wanted to do a layout using this photo and so when I found another sketch at lets capture these sketches I was pretty excited. I found some old Bo Bunny paper that I had stored in my stash and away I went. Thanks to the talented Martine who designed the sketch! The twist was to not use any cardstock, which was easy for me because I rarely use it! This layout brought me back to summer and my sunflower since today I'm looking out my window and all I see is snow, lol.
Lets Capture These Sketches #63
The journaling reads: It stands in the garden border so elegant and tall, The lovely yellow sunflower, the happiest flower of all. It loves to hold its head high, towards the heavens above, For it know that God is watching, and tending it with love. A lesson can be learned from this gracious yellow flower, It doesn't question how it grows, but trust God's wondrous powers.

The challenge at sketches in thyme this week was to use a sketch, any sketch and show your work. I love this one, so I thought I would share it with the girls there!

Focus

The boys are always fooling around and on Thanksgiving they were taking pictures of each other taking pictures! I was looking through my stash and found this Basic Grey "lime rickey" paper and thought "perfect" for this photo. I have a hard time working with red and Ryan wears alot of it, lol. This layout was for challenge #24 at sketches in thyme. I love that the sketch had so many circles. I admit...I went a little wild with the circles but I usually do such muted layouts and this one gave me a chance to use those bright colours. So...thanks for dropping by my friends! Have a wonderful weekend.

I won Challenge #15!!!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Sketches In Thyme for choosing my layout as the winner in their challenge. It was so exciting when my sister called and said "You Won, You Won". Her layout was chosen as one of the top 3 for the challenge so Congrats Char and to the other winners!

Sketches In Thyme Challenge #15

I'm having such fun doing sketch challenges. It really helps when your having a creative block! These are more photos from Nicole and Chris' trip to the coast. They took tons of pictures for me, so I'm ready for more sketches. This one came from Sketches In Thyme and the sketch was done by the talented Helen Croft. This sketch is also on her blog scrap-a-little-sketches #24. It was so much fun to do, I can't wait for the next one!
