An Heiress's Guide to Deception and Desire - Book Review

Miss Caroline (Caro) Hardcastle is not only the author of several cookbooks, but she also helps her dear friend Kate write a crim column for the local newspaper. Caro’s parents are determined that she should wed but Caro is bound and determined to choose her own husband. When her dear friend Effie is kidnapped, Caro will stop at nothing to find her, even if that means working with the man who broke her heart, Vicount  Wrakham, Valention Thorn. When Caro and Val are caught in what people believe was a compromising position, will Caro risk her families reputation, or will she find herself once again engaged to the man who betrayed her?

Lord Valentine (Val) Thorn is the new Viscount Wrackham, and his family is urging him to find a bride to carry on the family name. He is bound and determined to choose his own wife after he chose his family a few years ago over the one woman he ever truly loved. When fate throws Val and Caro together, will he finally stand up to his father and choose love or will he choose family duty?

I absolutely adored this novel by Manda Collins. Her witty, charming, sassy strong female characters are so well written that you become enthralled with them right from start. With being introduced to Caro and Val in the first novel of the series, I was excited to read their story in this one. I am not usually one for historical romances, but I was hooked on Ms. Collins writing style and really enjoyed learning about life back in the 1800’s. Now I will say I am a historical romance fan and can not wait to read the next novel in the series. Thank you so much Forever ( Grand Central Publishing) for the advanced copy of the book in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

The Riviera House - Book Review

The year is 1939 and the Nazis are invading France. Eliane sends her mother and sisters to the border, but she stays to help the resistance hide precious art from the Louvre along with her brother. Soon Eliane is working for the Germans in a gallery where they are cataloguing art for their private collections. When she sees the man she loved and lost, she is confused and conflicted as to why he would also work with the Germans. But all is not what you see, and Eliane will have some tough choices to make.

In the present, Remy is taking shelter in a home she inherited, a deed to the home that was given to her adopted parents to hold for her until she needed it. Remy is fighting her way back from a devasting loss and all she wants to do is focus on her vintage fashion business and find peace. What she does not count on is discovering finding long buried secrets to a family she never knew.

This riveting novel by Natasha Lester left me breathless reading both Eliane and Remys journeys. The story wove together brilliantly and as secrets were uncovered, the story kept evolving into a dynamic tale of love, loss, and family. I highly recommend reading the notes by the author at the end of the book, as she explains how she based this story on actual people and events while adding her own spin. Truly a remarkable novel and this is definitely a five-star read. Thank you to Harlequin Publishing, Natasha Lester and Netgalley for gifting me an advanced readers copy which I voluntarily read and reviewed.

The House on Sunshine Corner - Book Review

Abby Engel owns the Sunshine Corner daycare with her grandmother and loves working with her girlfriends every day taking care of the children in the small town she grew up in. The only thing missing from her life is a husband and family of her own, but she has already dated all the eligible men in town, and now she is out of options. When she runs into her high school crush Carter Hayes who is in town to help his sister, she must decide if a short-term fling is going to ease her longing for a family. She just can not give her heart again to the one man who broke it. Will Abby be able to move on once Carter leaves town?

This debut novel by Phoebe Mills was fabulous. I loved the characters and enjoyed getting to know all the ladies of Sunshine Corner. The novel was witty, funny, sweet and I really enjoyed Abby and Carters journey. Abby’s grandmother was such a great addition to the story and had me giggling more than once with her antics.  I am already looking forward to the next story in the series to see which characters story is told next. Many thanks to Forever ( Grand Central) Publishing, Phoebe Mills and Netgalley for an advanced copy of the book. I voluntarily read and reviewed the book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Second Chance at Sunflower Ranch - book review

Addison Hall and her daughter are living and working at the Sunflower Ranch and enjoying life. When Jesse Ryan comes home to stay, her life is about to change. She not only has the rebellion of her daughter to deal with, now she must face her one true love and the secret she has kept buried for the past nineteen years.

This story by Carolyn Brown was such a breath of fresh air. The story just flowed, and I loved watching the characters develop throughout the story. It did not follow the typical love story plot, and to say more would be a spoiler, so I will let you, the reader experience that for yourself. To me, it was like reading a journal of a family’s journey through life and I just could not get enough. I am already excited for the next book in the Ryan family series. I would like to thank Forever ( Grand Central Publishing), Carolyn Brown and Netgalley for an advanced copy of the book to read. It was fabulous.

Only for You - Book Review

When Tim Fraser’s breakup on a television reality show goes viral, he has nowhere to hide in his small hometown. What he needs is a diversion to keep his new fans away. He has only one idea.

Tim and Emily have been best friends for years so it seems only fitting that when Tim decides he needs a fake girlfriend, he would turn to Emily. The only thing Tim does not know is that Emily has had a crush on him ever since they were kids. Will this fake relationship turn into a real love story?

I really enjoyed the plot of this story by Barb Curtis. The television reality show brought some much humor and drama into the story, and it was a fresh fun story to read. I loved the characters and how they developed throughout the story. I enjoy small town romances, so this was just the perfect book to curl up with. I am looking forward to more books in the Sapphire Springs series and Barb Curtis is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. Many thanks to Forever ( Grand Central Publishing), Netgalley and Barb Curtis for a advanced readers copy.

The Summer Sisters - Book Review

The Buchanan sisters are working hard to meet their deadline to reopen the Juniper inn that they now own. Rose, the youngest sister is willing to do anything she can to make this new venture a success for her family and especially her Aunt Sassy who gave them the inn. Along with working on renovations and planning a party for Sassy, two of the sisters are struggling with their feelings for two handsome men in town. When Lillian, the girls mother comes to town will she just fuel the long feud that is going on between her and Sassy? Will she ruin everything the girls worked so hard on?

I loved the first book in the series and this book just continued my love of the Juniper Inn and the Buchanan family. The story was sweet, funny, tender, loving and heartwarming. I adored the love stories that were going on, especially when Sassy joins the love train.  This book has all the ingredients for the perfect story and Sara Richardson wrote it beautifully. I am already excited for the next book in the series. My thanks to the author Sara Richardson, Forever ( Grand Central Publishing) and Netgalley for a advanced copy to read.

Falling in Love on Willow Creek - Book Review

Sadie Gray is back home in Highland Falls, pregnant and due at any moment. She is home to find her brother who is once again in trouble with the law. She is certain her grandmother is helping him at the cost of losing her treasured business. When Sadie goes into labour, stranded, she is sure life could not get any worse. When a handsome stranger comes to her aid, she experiences love at first sight.

Chase Roberts has one and only one thing on his agenda. To capture an elusive criminal and put him behind bars. When he stops to help a young woman in labour, he has no idea how his life is about to change.

This was just the sweetest story. Sadie’s’ character is so wonderfully written that you immediately sympathize with the young mother trying to keep it all together. Add in a handsome FBI agent and a mystery and it made for the perfect love story. Sadie’s grandmother is quite the character and she added that extra touch of humour to the story. I absolutely adored the book and loved Debbie Masons writing style. The Highland Falls series is one you will not soon forget. My thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing), Debbie Mason and Netgalley for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was such a riveting novel by Sandra Brown. Lies, deceit and long buried secrets all come to life in this suspense novel. This is definitely a page turner which will keep you guessing. I love Ms. Browns writing style and have been a fan of her for a very long time, so I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The main characters were brilliantly written and kept the story interesting. One Night With A Cowboy - Book Review

Weston Harding is trying to tame his reckless lifestyle after an injury on the rodeo circuit. He has a chance to redeem himself when his pregnant sister is confined to a hospital bed and asks him to run a retreat at the family ranch for one week. Can Wes keep his promise and show everyone that he is a changed man?

Thea Davis is a widow with two children ready to go on a retreat at her best friend’s ranch that she has organized. When she arrives, she finds Wes Harding taking the place of her best friend. She remembers Wes too well and how he treated her years ago, so she is very leery to trust him. Can Thea put aside her old feelings and take a chance at happiness?

This was such a heartwarming story by Sara Richardson. The characters were well written, and you could feel the emotions of each character throughout the story. The setting, plot and story line were just a perfect combination for a small-town romance. I loved the book and would like to  thank the author  Sara Richardson, Forever (Grand Central) Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. Dream A Little Dream - Book Review

Darcy Jones Harper is a widow, who had married her elderly mentor as his dying wish. She has two grown step sons who despise her and now she has just found out her late husband has recommended her to take his place as the judge of Sunshine Valley. She feels unprepared to accept the position and manage the massive estate her husband left her. When she sees Jason Petrie, her ex-boyfriend in town, she wonders if things could get any worse. The matchmaking Widow’s club though is right in the thick of things to help Jason wins Darcy’s heart.

This is such a sweet story by Melinda Curtis. It was so nice to return to Sunshine Valley to see what the Widow’s club was up to this time. All of the main and supporting characters were so well written, I was drawn right into the story from page one. If you have not had the chance to read this series, you want to put it on your list, you will love it. I would like to thank the author Melinda Curtis, Forever (Grand Central) Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. I absolutely loved the book. When We Were Young - Book Review

Three generations of women in a family full of secrets

Corfu 1942, we find Sarah Batis, a young girl in love with a young fisherman who her family does not approve of. She runs away with him only to hear that her family has been taken by the Nazis. She must now make a decision that will change the course of her life.

Corfu 2004, Sarah’s daughter Bea has a happy life, a wonderful husband and two beautiful daughters. Bea has been living with a long-buried secret that may just destroy her family.

Florida 2019, Bea’s daughter Joey is days away from getting married when her first love from her summers in Corfu comes to see her to explain why he left her so many years ago. This secret that he has been carrying could destroy not only Joey’s family but his own.

What a brilliant story by Jaclyn Goldis. The character development was fabulous, and I loved how the story would build and then go back in time to fill in the missing moments. It blended so beautifully. It was joyous, heart breaking, and so tender giving the reader a full range of emotions from these women’s stories. I highly recommend this book and would like to thank the author Jaclyn Goldis, Forever ( Grand Central Publishing) and Netgalley for an advanced copy of the book. All opinions expressed for this review are unbiased and entirely my own.

Second Chance on Cypress Lane - Book Review

Second Chance on Cypress Lane by Reese Ryan

Dakota Jones is coming to Holly Grove Island after a devastating career disaster that left her unemployed and in the tabloids. She just wants to refocus and decide what to do with her career, so spending time with her dad might just do the trick. When she runs right into her old high school flame Dexter, the man who broke her heart, maybe returning home might not have been the right choice.

Dexter is home for good and when he sees Dakota, he wants to explain to her why he left her so many years ago. When it turns out that they must work together, and Dexter is her new boss, being friends is now his only option.

Dakota and Dexter must fight their feelings for each other even though their friends and family can clearly see that they are meant to be together. Dakota is only in town for awhile, so she is bound and determined to stay casual friends, she does not want another broken heart. Dexter must decide if his feelings for Dakota are worth risking a career, he spent so much time building.

This was a sweet story of second chances and rekindling a broken friendship. As a reader we get insight into how each character is feeling as the story is told from both points of view. I did feel however that a lot of time was spent with them reminiscing on the past and retelling their earlier romance. I would have liked to have the story focus more on the present and their time spent learning how to trust one another. All in all it was a good story and I do look forward to the next book in the series. Thank you so much to the author Reese Ryan, Forever (Grand Central) Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. All opinions expressed for this review are unbiased and entirely my own.

Home For The Holidays - Book Review

Home for the Holidays by Sara Richardson

When their Aunt Sassy sends a letter to the three Buchanan sisters, Dahlia, Magnolia and Rose, they all decide to head back to the Juniper Inn for one last Christmas as a family.

Dahlia, divorced and a single mother of two, is looking for a new future. Her children are with her ex-husband for the holidays, and maybe the Juniper Inn and the handsome doctor in town will give her just what she needs this Christmas.

Magnolia and her husband have been struggling with infertility, so a trip to see Aunty Sassy is just what Magnolia needs to begin a new chapter in her life. Maybe the Juniper Inn will have a special Christmas surprise just for her.

Rose is engaged and a little hesitant about the wedding and the groom’s family. A little time away to clear her head is just what she needs. When she goes back to the Juniper Inn and spends some time with her sisters and Aunt Sassy, her future becomes crystal clear.

This novel by Sara Richardson is absolutely fabulous. I loved the characters and how their stories are all interwoven. It had all the right ingredients for the perfect Christmas story; a small town, three sisters, a devoted, caring aunt, and a few handsome single men. This is the first novel I have read by this author, but I know it will not be the last. I love finding new authors to read. Thank you so much to the author Sara Richardson, Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous!
