I Know I'm Not Perfect

It's Thursday so it's time to sing along with the design team at Scrap It With A Song. Today we are singing "Every Girl Like Me" by Sugarland. This is actually a song that I suggested, so I was excited that it was chosen. I took a few lines from the song for my title "I know I'm not perfect, but I know I'm worth it". Now I could be talking about myself, or...I could be talking about those two fuzzy little things by my side. I guess we all aren't perfect, but it's so worth it! So I hope you can swing by and play along. I'm getting addicted to the sketches at ScrapFriends, so once again I used one of the sketches for inspiration.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I love reading your comments and I appreciate your scrappy support! Have a wonderfully happy scrappy day! Lynn

Promises

It's Thursday friends, so that means it's time to sing along at Scrap It With A Song. Our song this week is "American Girl" by Tom Petty. Well..I'm Canadian, so I thought this was going to be a tough challenge until I read the lyrics. They were so fitting for a layout of my daughter Nicole.
My journaling reads (from the song)
" Raised on Promises,
She couldn't help thinkin'
That there was a little more to life somewhere else
After all is was a great big world"
She is one brave young woman. She packed up and moved to a different city to follow her dreams. I'm a home body, so she is my inspiration to try and do new things. She is an amazing young woman. I stopped by ScrapFriends blog and of course there was the perfect sketch to follow for my layout, so this just came together nicely. So..stop by, get your singing voices ready and come play along at Scrap It With A Song!

Whatever Tomorrow Brings

Good Morning everyone! You know why I love Thursday's? It's a new song reveal at Scrap It With A Song. Today the new song is "Drive" by Incubus. I chose to do a photo of Nicole and titled it "Whatever tomorrow brings", a line from the song. Her life changed dramatically, getting married, moving to a new city. I guess you just never know what's around the corner. I love seeing what the Rock Chicks do with the songs, so pop by and play along if you can. For this layout I used the "Hello Summer" line from Echo Park courtesy of my wonderful friends at Urban Scrapbook. I was also peeking around at Two Peas and gained some inspiration from a layout from Nikkiarngwife.   It was fun to do a bright and colourful layout.

Because I Knew You

Good Morning Scrappy Friends! Today at Scrap It With A Song our new challenge is the song by Kristin Chenoweth from the musical Wicked called "For Good".  When I saw the line "Because I Knew You", I knew exactly what I wanted to scrap. This layout is of my grandmother, my Baba holding Ryan when he was a baby. This wonderful lady helped raise me from the time I was six weeks old. I can't even begin to type all the memories I have of her. She was so special to me. Just looking at this layout makes me miss her even more. She has now passed away, but I think of her often. Around my layout I wrote some of the lyrics from the song.
"It well may be, that we will never meet again in this lifetime,
So let me say before we part,
So much of me is made of what I learned from you.
You'll be with me,
like a handprint on my heart....
But I know I'm who I am today,
Because I knew YOU.

I keep telling the girls that they keep making me cry when I see these songs. I love the challenges because they bring meaning to my layouts. I really hope you can stop by. We post a new song every week, and you have all month to enter. I also go to  try the new Jenni Bowlin line for this from my wonderful friends at Urban Scrapbook and I also used a sketch from a new site I found called Scrappy Sketches.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I love reading your comments and I appreciate your scrappy support! Have a wonderfully happy scrappy day! Lynn

Time of My Life - Scrap It With A Song

This week at Scrap It With A Song the song is "Good Riddance/ Time of Your Life" by Greenday. Well..I'm having the time of my life with my new pups. I've never laughed and smiled so much. The "adventures" they get in to are priceless. This is a photo of myself and Daisy out at the lake on my birthday just hanging out and walking by the lake. I spend so much more time outside now too. We take walks or just sit out on the patio enjoying the sunshine. As the song says " It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right"...that is my new motto for life! Hope you can stop by and join us this week! I should also mention that my design came from the beautiful sketch at Stuck On U Sketches! I was happy to get to play along with them this week.

Spring Fever - Scrap it With A Song

This week at Scrap It With A Song our song was "Spring Fever" by Elvis Presley. Well....Daisy had spring fever when the snow melted and she found "MUD". Like I say... Mud = Bath. I guess we are lucky that Daisy loves baths so much. I used my new Momenta paper that I won and used the sketch #202  from Creative Scrappers to do this layout. It was fun to a bright colorful layout. It was one of the few I did where I used only paper, lol. I love cutting out flowers, maybe I'm becoming a "fussy cutter" after all, lol. Have a wonderful Spring day everyone...and if you catch the "fever", stop by and join in our challenge!

Scrap It With A Song - Beautiful Day

Our song for this week at Scrap It With A Song is "Beautiful Day" by U2. The day Chris & Nicole had these photos taken was a beautiful day for sure. I could scrap these over and over again. Just looking at them makes me miss them more everyday. Our children grow up so fast and then their lives become their own. My advice to all young mom's is...enjoy each day, treasure each moment, and love them with all your heart! My girls at Urban challenged me yet again with this 6x6 paper pack from Cosmo Cricket. They wanted to see me use it as a background. I love to be challenged and the best part is I discovered I love Cosmo Cricket and used my Sew Ribbon zig zag tool for the first time!

Still A Little Hard to Say What's Going On

Our song this week at Scrap It With A Song is "Cannonball" by Damien Rice. This is a photo of me sitting in my field of wildflowers. I just stopped the car, got out and sat right in the middle of the field. It was so good for my soul. I chose the line "Still a Little Hard to say What's Going On' because of the journey I have been on for the past couple of years. Every day the sun shines a little brighter.

Urban Scrapbook / Scrap it With A Song - Nothing Compares 2 U

This is my son Ryan when he was a year old. So many people have been doing vintage photos, or just older photos that have never been scrapped, so it made that little light bulb go off in my head, lol. I had done scrapbooks for my kids almost 20 years ago, ummm...not sure I would show those to anyone now, lol. The other day I was thinking about what photo I wanted to scrap. I went downstairs where it was like Euphoria...10 photo boxes FULL of family photos that have never been scrapped. So look forward my friends to seeing my Ryan who is now 20 as a baby and Nicole who is now 24 as a baby too. I'm excited to begin this journey of memories. This layout is for my debut as a new designer with Scrap It With A Song. I have used their songs a billion times for layout inspiration and titles, so I am honored to join such a team of fabulous ladies. I also used some new Echo Park paper, and it's the first time I've even bought a line from them. I am lovin it!!! I think there is more Echo Park in my future. I took inspiration from Leslie's sketch on the Echo Park Blog. This layout will also be taking a trip to Urban Scrapbook!! I did mention I love those girls right? lol  This was a mouth full...but I'm so happy!!!

Can't Go Back

When I saw the prompt at Bo Bunny to use stitching and journaling I was ready to go. If you know me, you know I'm a HUGE fan of Bo Bunny. My goal is to one day get on their design team, it would be a life long dream come true. I think I stitched every piece of paper on the layout, lol. The journaling I did is partially hidden and is further down my post. Then I needed some inspiration for the rest of my layout. Yesterday I was visiting Scrap It With A Song and yet again it made me cry when I hear the song "Falling Slowly". This gave me the title for my layout. This morning I was blogging along and came across a new blog Scrapbookers Paradise and am trying their sketch challenge. It's funny, I drive to this store 3 hours from my house to shop and never knew they had a blog. So... this is me and my journaling reads:

After two years of asking "what if" and "why" I now realize I can't go back.
I have to move forward. I have to let go of the past and not hurt anymore.
I have to focus on today, not yesterday, not tomorrow.
I have to keep reminding myself that today is a gift and I need to appreciate what I have in my life.
It's time to move on, it's time to let go, I can't go back.

To Everything There is a Season

This is Tessa and Nicole. The bond between a child and her pet is so beautiful and precious. Tessa was always by her side. When Nicole had her tragic accident where she suffered neck and back injuries, Tessa was always laying beside her, the kind and gentle companion. I just had to scrapbook their friendship. This week we have lost three members of our family and extended family. I have come to the place where my healing begins, my studio, where I can pay tribute through my art to the ones we love. The layout was from a sketch at Bo Bunny and the inspiration for the title came from Scrap it With A Song. At Crop Stop the challenge is "time". We sometimes take for granted the time we have with our friends, family or pets. All Nicole keeps saying is "I wish I had more time with her". So, take the time today to tell someone you love them.

Strength Courage & Wisdom

Today was a very sad day for our family. Our beloved pet of sixteen years passed away this morning, peacefully in my arms. She was my companion and a friend to many. She will be sadly missed. Again, I couldn't face being around the house cleaning her things, so I came to my studio and did what I do for therapy. I scrap! When I saw the challenge today at Scrap It With A Song I started to cry and knew what I wanted to do. The challenge was a song for the New Year. I chose India Arie "Strength, Courage & Wisdom". I love the lyrics so much I included them in my layout to remind me of what I want to achieve.  Below is the link to the song, and it is so fitting for me. The last two years have been trying for sure. I don't want to go into details, but two surgeries, a brain trauma, and my family being by my side has made me the person I am today. I want to grow, I want to smile, I want to be happy and just live for today. I also combined this with a sketch challenge at Let's Capture These Sketches which was so beautiful, I hope I did it justice. P.S. Thanks to all of you that voted for me today at http://www.practicalscrappers.com/2012/01/layout-contest-group-5_17.html . It's a one day only vote, so I appreciate all our your support my friends.

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas

"Have a Holly Jolly Christmas"...la la la. This layout is of my family just a few days ago on Christmas Eve. We love to take goofy photos by the tree. If I can get them to take one serious one I'm lucky. Ryan had just opened his Colts hoodie and hat so there was no way he was trading that for a Santa hat. I found the sketch at Stuck on U Sketches and I'm also entering it over at Scrap It With A Song which has a Christmas Song Challenge. I'm having so much fun scrapping this week I don't want to go back to work, lol....So I hope everyone had a Holly Jolly Christmas and here's a cheer for a Scrappy Happy New Years!

My Guy

Now this is what I call a "double header". I found this sketch on creative scrappers which was created by the oh so talented Aphra Bolyer. Then I found an idea on scrap it with a song which asked you to use the song "My Guy". I thought....what a perfect opportunity to combine both ideas! So...this is my guy, and the song fits so perfectly. So thanks to both sites for keeping my creativity going!
