Erika is an
overworked, uptight, surgeon in Anchorage Alaska. She works at a very busy
hospital and works hard every day to live up to the high expectations of her father, the head of
the hospital. Erika prides herself in not getting caught up in her patient’s
stories, she is there to save lives, not counsel patients and their families.
Erika is burning out and she suddenly finds herself on “leave” for two weeks at
her fathers insistence. She doesn’t know what to do, she only knows how to
work. Maybe she should look up her best friend Cassie who she has lost touch
with and go back to the small town she grew up in.
Reed is a
search and rescue guide who loves his job, loves his life in Wild River,
Alaska. It’s a small town and he loves the community and family that he
surrounds himself with, especially his sister Cassie. One night he is helping
out a friend bartending and he has to do a double take when he sees Erika walk
into the bar. What could she possibly be doing here in Wild River?
Reed and
Erika get off to a rocky start when they first meet and Reed isn’t very happy
to have to look after Erika when his sister has to go out of town for a few
days. Reed ends up taking Erika on a search and rescue mission and that’s when
things start to heat up. Soon they can’t stay away from each other and find
themselves falling for one another. Can they keep up their new relationship
when Erika has to return to Anchorage and she has to go back to her stressful
job?
This book
was so beautifully written by Jennifer Snow. You can feel the tension between
Erika and Reed and then as you see them falling in love you find yourself
cheering on the couple to find their happily ever after. I was so happy to find
out that this is the first book in a new series and I can’t wait to read the
next book to revisit the characters in Wild River. Thanks so much to Harlequin,
Jennifer Snow and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to read and
review. This one goes on the shelf of one of my favorite books of the year.
Thank you so much for stopping by the farmhouse. Lynn
