Christmas in Evergreen - Book Review

Christmas in Evergreen, Tidings of Joy by Nancy Naigle

Katie Connell is on her way to Evergreen, Vermont to hopefully get some inspiration for her next novel. When she meets a resident of the town, Ben on the train, and then arrives in town, she expresses her doubt that the town can be as wonderful as it. The more she sees, the more doubtful she is. Can people really be this wonderful? Is this town only a great marketing ploy?

Ben suggests that Katie immerse herself in the town’s festivities following up to Christmas to prove to her that Evergreen is all about Christmas, family, friends, and love.  When Katie hears about a Christmas time capsule, she becomes intrigued. As she works to solve the mystery and gets to know the people in town, will Katie realize that this small town is exactly what it appears to be?

One of the attractions of the town is a treasured snow globe which is told to grant wishes. When the globe is broken, it helps Katie with the time capsule along with a possible love interest for one of the towns residents. There can never be too many love stories unfolding in this small town.

This was such a beautiful heartwarming Christmas story. I loved the character development and all the supporting characters in the book. The added mystery of a time capsule hidden in town added a fun little twist to the story. When I found out there were also three Hallmark movies that were based on the books, I quickly found those to watch as well. It was fun to watch the characters brought to life in a movie. The book can be read as a stand a lone novel, but as you fall in love with Evergreen you will want to read the entire series. Thank you so much to the author, Nancy Naigle, Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was wonderful! Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy - Book Review

Sophie is a bundle of Christmas joy. She loves her small town, her quilt shop, family, and friends. When she finds a journal of a tormented Marine, she knows exactly what he needs, a friend, and Sophie vows that she will share her joy of Christmas with him. When Sophie returns his journal, she is taken aback when he tells her he does not need any friends. Maybe what this Marine needs is one of Sophie’s veterans quilts to wrap him in love.

Cole Aaron is a retired marine trying to settle into civilian life in small town Pine Hill. He keeps to himself and has few friends because he is still battling his nightmares and regrets of his time in the marines. He does not need some bubbly, happy bundle of Joy feeling sorry for him.

Sophie and Cole are quite the couple. She is relentless in her pursuit of becoming Cole’s friend, and Cole is relentless to keep his distance so he cannot hurt anyone else. With the help of the “Butterflies” in town, it seems that Sophie may get her way after all.

I adored this Christmas story by Janice Lynn. It was so heartfelt and heartwarming. You could feel the joy in Sophie, and the pain and suffering in Cole. They were both strong and brilliantly written characters. It was also fun to meet the other residents of Pine Hill and I hope there will be more books in the series! Thank you so much to the author Janice Lynn, Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was amazing! Christmas Charms - Book Review

Christmas Charms by Teri Wilson

Ashley is getting ready to go to Paris with her boyfriend whom she believes will be her fiancé any minute, when things go a little sideways and Ashley ends up heading home back to Owl Lake for the holidays. On the train ride home, she meets a lovely elderly lady named Betty who is wearing a charm bracelet, and one who she ends up sharing her story with. When she arrives in her hometown, Betty has disappeared, but the beautiful charm bracelet Betty was wearing is tucked into a knitted stocking with a little note attached. Ashley looks for Betty and when she cannot find her, she slips the bracelet on and heads to her parent’s house.

When Ashley arrives, things start to happen that just do not make any sense to her. When her bracelet starts to “jingle”, Ashley can not help but wonder if the bracelet has anything to do with the strange but beautiful things that keep happening. The bracelet seems to be more, much more than a vintage piece of jewelry. Will this finally be Ashley’s perfect Christmas? Will her first boyfriend Aidan have anything to do with the last charm on the bracelet?

This story written by Teri Wilson was just the sweetest holiday romance. I love the twist of the bracelet and all the “coincidences” that keep happening to Ashley. All the main and supporting characters in the story were so beautifully written and I got immersed right into the beautiful small town as they prepared for Christmas. It made me want to dig out my Christmas sweater and join in the festivities. This by far is one of the best Christmas stories I have read, and I know I will be looking for more books by Ms. Wilson. Thank you so much to the author Teri Wilson, Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous! Dead End Detective - Book Review

Dead End Detective by Amanda Flower

Darby Piper and Samantha Porter are the Two Girls Detective Agency. Samantha has not been acting like herself and when she is found dead after a car crash, Darby soon becomes the main suspect. Turning to her friends and family, Darby starts finding out there was much more to Samantha Porter than she realized.

Tate Porter has come back to town just before his aunt Samantha turns up dead. He vows to uncover the mystery behind her death even if that means teaming up with the number one suspect in the case, Darby Piper.

Darby and Tate along with friends and family, slowly start uncovering more clues and the suspect list starts to grow. Can Darby and Tate help the police solve the crime before Darby gets arrested?

This was such a fabulous whodunit. I loved Amanda Flower’s writing style and there were many twists and turns in the story to leave the reader guessing. I loved the banter between Darby and Tate and how their friendship grew throughout the book. The supporting characters were so well written, I was completely engrossed in the story from start to finish. I am excited to read the next book in the series! Thank you so much to the author Amanda Flower, Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous! Behind the Frame- Book Review

Savanna, Sydney and Skylar are the Shepherd sisters who live-in small-town Carson, MI. Savanna is busy planning the “Art in the Park” festival when all of a sudden one of the committee members turns up dead. When one of their friends ends up as the lead suspect, all three women band together to help solve the murder along with Detective Nick Jordan. When the clues start adding up, several of the people in town start looking like they may have had a reason for committing the murder. The closer the sisters get; things start heating up and someone wants Savanna out of the way. Now the clock starts ticking. Will they be able to solve the crime and save the festival?

This novel by Tracy Gardner has all the ingredients for the perfect Hallmark novel. Family, friends, mystery, love interests and lovable supporting characters. Even though this is the second book in the series, you can easily read it as a stand a lone novel, as the author does a brilliant job of catching you up on the back story and characters from the first book. I absolutely loved this book and I cannot wait for the next one in the series and I fully intend on reading more from this author. Thank you so much to the author Tracy Gardner, Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous!
