Rest Girl - Book Review

What an incredible book to start reading for the New Year. I loved how Jami Amerine takes her readers on a journey of faith using her own life as an example. She is raw, real, open and quite humorous as she guides one through what real faith and trust can look like. Is she perfect? No, but she is sure a real person facing real issues in the real world, not striving to be perfect in our world, but knowing she is loved in His world. This book was like sitting down with a good friend, baring souls and consulting scripture to help us on our journey of faith. I have learned so much and I feel like a weight has been lifted off my weary shoulders. I think this is the perfect book for us not so perfect women in todays society. A huge thank you to Barbour Publishing for an advanced readers copy to read and review.

Thank you so much for stopping by the farmhouse. Lynn

Well Girl - Book Review

https://amzn.to/33cllPd

Well Girl is a book that I think we all can gain some insight from. How many of us suffer from the “I’m not good enough” syndrome? The pressures of being thinner or prettier? Trying to live up to the images in magazines and television? Well Girl………. Jami Amerine has the answer and it is not found in a magazine. It is found in your soul! God tells us over and over how we are made perfect in His image, how we are loved and cherished, but do we believe Him?  How could He love us with our imperfections and those extra pounds?  He does friends and in this book, you will go on a journey of self discovery and transformation.

Jami Amerine is real, she is raw, and she is honest. Her journey will bring you to tears, and it will also make you giggle. With a touch of sass, you cannot help but fall in love with her and her story. She is someone who is there right along with you. She is a breath of fresh air and insightful.

Thank you so much to the author Jami Amerine, Barbour Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous! All opinions expressed for this review are unbiased and entirely my own.

Book Review - Holy Guacamole

https://amzn.to/2S6lj42

Holy Guacamole! Get ready for an attitude change and a step towards a beautiful relationship with God! Carrie Stephens takes you on a journey of faith with this witty, insightful, and “real” book. She shares her own journey, her trials, her mishaps and her accomplishments and she makes the reader feel that you are going to be just fine as you find God in the middle of your own mess. Rarely do you find a Christian book that brings you laughter right along with wisdom. It’s so easy for the reader to relate to her stories as a young mother and wife. You keep saying, “I’ve been there, I’ve felt that too”. She shows us that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be you, the beautiful you that God made. You are special and you are loved.

I laughed, I cried, and I finished the book with a lot of highlighted parts and I seriously could have filled an entire post it note pad writing down tidbits to remember. This is a great book to curl up with and you feel as if you are sitting across from Carrie as she tells her story. I especially loved the questions in the book that had the “feel” and “act” prompts for you, they really made me stop and reflect. Thank you so much to Barbour Publishing, Carrie Stephens and NetGalley for an advanced copy to read and review.

Book Review: Obedience Over Hustle: The Surrender of the Striving Heart

https://amzn.to/2LcWst9

Today we strive for more, to be better, faster, more productive. We learn how to multi-task and connect ourselves 24/7 to our work, our lives and our families. Is this what God intended for us? Does God want us to “hustle” through life missing His calling for us? God wants us to slow down, take a breath and follow Him. He knows the way. We have to realize we can’t get there faster on our own. But when you are doing the “hustle” you miss Gods whisper, His direction and His call.
Malinda Fuller takes us on her personal journey of retransformation from the “have it all”, “do it all”, “be it all” to a silent moment when Gods whisper touched her life. She shows us that what we think we want may not even be close to what God has planned for us. She teaches us through Scripture and her personal journey how we to can slow down, spend some quiet time in His word and learn to follow His voice.

This book is like a breath of fresh air. It’s like a friend who says it’s ok not to “hustle” and to take the Spiritual path in life. I felt relief, moments of uncertainty wondering if I too could follow God, and pure peace in knowing that I’m not alone in this struggle. This was a fabulous book that I’m sure will touch the lives of many readers. Thank you to Barbour Publishing, Malinda Fuller and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review.
