The Phoenix's Unlikely Prodigy - Book Review

Jeannie van Bellen has come back home to live with her parents in the small town where she grew up. She is a single mom who is going back to school and needs her parents help. Jeannie is excited to reconnect with her friends again, but the one person she never expected to see was her close friend and her first lover, Peter Corbin (aka Phoenix). When secrets unravel, will Phoenix still want to be in her life?

Phoenix is on leave from the military, back home and is ready to reconnect with his family and friends. He has spent the last ten years with the military and is questioning his future. When he sees Jeannie, the one girl he never forgotten, he vows to be by her side no matter what. When he is faced with an incident from his past, will he still want to stay and be by Jeannie’s side?

I enjoyed this book by MaryAnn Clarke. She takes a group of friends from high school and looks at their lives ten years later weaving all the characters together so seamlessly throughout the story. Each of the characters are unique and I loved all the different personalities.  I do wonder about people from my high school days, so this book was a perfect fit for me. I am already excited for the next book in the series to see whose story is next. Thanks to Enticing Journey Book Promotions who gifted me a copy of the book, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
