Every Waking Hour - Book Review

Every Waking Hour by Joanna Schaffhausen

In this fourth book in the series, we find Ellery Hathaway now living in Boston and working as a rookie detective and in a relationship with FBI agent Reed Markham. When Ellery, Reed and his daughter Tula are at a local fair, a woman starts screaming that a child is lost. With Ellery’s past and Reed’s experience finding missing children, they are quick to get involved in the case.

Not to give away any spoilers, Ellery and Reed start unraveling family secrets, long buried hurt, and another murder that happened years ago. Can they find the missing girl Chloe before the killer takes his revenge?

I love this series written by Joanna Schaffhausen. The mystery is quick paced, suspenseful and there are twists and turns in every chapter. Just when you think you have it figured out; something happens that takes the reader in a different direction. It is also intriguing to follow Ellery as she is still dealing with the aftermath of her own abduction, which leaves her vulnerable, yet her strength to carry on and help others shines through.  Although you could read the book as a stand alone novel, I do think that the reader would miss the backstory of Ellery which the series is based upon by not reading the series in order. Thank you so much to the author Joanna Schaffhausen, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fantastic!
