Her Second Chance Cowboy by Makenna Lee
Reese Turner a photographer is back in Cypress Creek, Texas with two goals in mind. One is to buy back her grandparent’s cottage and the other is to complete an assignment for her job application to National Geographic. She has her life goals in sight, and everything is going according to plan until she sees her high school crush James on the roof of her grandparent’s cottage. He is the one person who could side rail all her plans.
James MacLachlan is a confirmed bachelor running his families ranch and is starting an equine therapy program for special needs children. When his family bought the adjoining land to their ranch, the land belonging to his old flame, Reese, he is determined to upkeep it in case she ever comes home. When he spies a photographer taking photos of the cabin, he is quite happy that it turns out to be Reese Turner. Maybe this is his chance to makeup for breaking her heart so many years ago.
While Reese and James rekindle their friendship, their old spark is also reignited. Can they just have a summer fling and go their separate ways? What will happen if Reese gets her dream job? Can she say goodbye to the only man she has ever loved?
This story was so heartwarming and tells the tale of two young lovers reunited years later. Makenna Lee wrote the story so brilliantly that I was not quite sure how the story would end. I loved the character development and the added twist of a treasure hunt, which kept me engaged until the very end. I hope this story turns into a series, as the supporting characters in the book also have their own stories to tell. Makenna Lee is a new author for me, and after reading her novel A Sheriff’s Star, I knew that I had to go in search of her other books. She is now one of my favourite new authors.
