A Highlander Is Coming To Town - Book Review

Claire Smythe has a secret and that is why she is hiding in small town Highland, Georgia. She is working as a live-in aide to an elderly woman, Ms. Meadows while trying to figure out what she should do with her life. Should she return to Scotland and her family or should she try to build a life in Highland.

Holt Pierson has lived in Highland his whole life and runs his family farm. His parents have taken a long vacation traveling, so he is feeling quite lonely. When he runs into a beautiful Scottish lass named Claire, he is thinking he might not be lonely for long, except she tells him she will not be in town for long. Can Holt convince Claire to give him and his small town a chance?

Holt and Claire’s friendship gets off to a rocky start. She does not want friends, she just wants to be left alone, yet Holt seems to be there every time she turns around offering his help. Claire starts to wonder if it would not hurt to have a new friend and maybe even a fling before she leaves. What she does not count on, is that she will start having feelings for not only Holt, but all the charming residents of this small town. Soon things take a turn and Claire must make a life altering decision.

This was such a sweet small-town romance. I loved all the characters and Laura Trentham’s brilliant writing style. I have read the previous books in the series and was excited to continue with Holt’s journey. This could be read as a stand a lone novel, but this series is so fabulous, you will want to read them all. Thank you so much to the author  Laura Trentham, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous! All opinions expressed for this review are unbiased and entirely my own.

An award-winning author, Laura Trentham was born and raised in a small town in Tennessee. Although, she loved English and reading in high school, she was convinced an English degree equated to starvation. She chose the next most logical major--Chemical Engineering--and worked in a hard hat and steel toed boots for several years.

She writes sexy, small town contemporaries and smoking hot Regency historicals. KISS ME THAT WAY, Cottonbloom Book 1, won the Stiletto Contest for Best Long Contemporary and finaled in the National Readers Choice Award. THEN HE KISSED ME, Cottonbloom Book 2, was named an Amazon Best Romance of 2016 and was a finalist for the National Excellence for Romance Fiction. TILL I KISSED YOU, Cottonbloom Book 3, is a finalist in the Maggie contest. LEAVE THE NIGHT ON, the latest Cottonbloom book, was named an iBooks Best Book of the Month and a Recommended Read from NPR.

When not lost in a cozy Southern town or Regency England, she's shuttling kids to soccer, helping with homework, and avoiding the Mt. Everest-sized pile of laundry that is almost as big as the to-be-read pile of books on her nightstand.
